Dr. Megan Leclair
Veterinarian, Practice Owner

I was born and raised in Richmond, B.C., where I lived until completing a Bachelor of Science (Agr.) at the University of British Columbia. After thoroughly enjoying the natural beauty and mecca of outdoor activities in B. C., I packed up and eagerly moved to the lovely city of Saskatoon to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. Veterinary Medicine was the only career I ever considered – it only made sense to choose a profession where I could surround myself everyday with animals, people who also love animals, and fulfill a strong interest in science and medicine. In the spring of 2005, I graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). I continued my journey across the prairies where fate landed me in the great city of Winnipeg, a place where my husband and I now call our forever home. Over the years, we’ve managed to fill our home with 3 wonderful children, an adorable rescue dog, two loving senior cats and three goofy guinea pigs.

I joined the Charleswood Veterinary Clinic in 2007 and have felt incredibly grateful every day since then to be able to work with such an amazing group of dedicated veterinary professionals. Being able to watch the bond between pets and their families grow from their first kitten and puppy visits to their senior years makes everyday an exciting and rewarding one.  Each day my goal is to provide honest, thorough, and compassionate veterinary care to the wonderful families and their pets in our community, and to ensure our outstanding staff work in an environment that is safe, supportive and enjoyable.

Veterinarian

I have been part of the Charleswood team since 2006. I attended the University of Manitoba after graduating high school and then went on to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine where I graduated in 2001. I had grandiose ideas of mixed practice and specifically dairy production medicine upon graduation but life happens and sometimes for the better.

I couldn't ask for better colleagues than the team at Charleswood Vet Clinic. We very much look at the care of our patients as a team effort with the common goal of their wellbeing. We've been a part of the Charleswood community for many years now due to the amazing clients allowing us to practice the best medicine we can provide.

Veterinarian

I grew up in Winnipeg and since a young age wanted to be a veterinarian. I received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba prior to attending the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. I graduated in 2013 and started practicing in a rural setting. This gave me a wealth of experience, from routine medicine to emergency care. In 2015, I moved back to Winnipeg and joined the Charleswood Veterinary Clinic. I am fortunate to be a part of a great team that strives to provide the best care for our patients.

I frequently bring my French Bulldog, Olive, to work where she is spoiled by her second family, while my rescue cat, Felix, is happy to stay home.

I grew up in the Charleswood area, and since a very young age had the goal of becoming a veterinarian. I left Winnipeg to attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. I did not last long living without pets while at school as I quickly acquired my two Maine Coon cats - Simon and Arthur. I returned to Winnipeg to begin practicing after graduating in 2017. I have a particular interest in Fear Free medicine and believe in making veterinary visits as low stress as possible through gentle handling and positive reinforcement. I joined the Charleswood Veterinary Clinic team in April 2018. It has been such a pleasure to be back in my community and to be working alongside such supportive and caring staff.

I grew up in the Charleswood area of Winnipeg and studied at the University of Winnipeg before attending the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. After graduating in 2018, I gained a variety of experience working at a couple different clinics in the city before coming to the wonderful  Charleswood Veterinary Clinic in February 2022.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my two cats - Casper and Calliope.

Veterinarian
I’m a born and raised Winnipegger, with a smattering of stays out West. I began my undergraduate degree at the University of Winnipeg with a BSc (Hons) and the intention of pursuing a career in human medicine. As life happens, I fatefully spent a spring break at a rural mixed animal practice where I watched some of the most fascinating things I had ever seen, including a calf being born, and I realized that my long-term professional goals could all be fulfilled in a single career: veterinary medicine. I graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.
For me, veterinary medicine provides the framework to simultaneously practice medicine, work with the animals we love, build personal relationships, and make a lasting impact on my community.

I believe firmly in strengthening the Human-Animal Bond and the concept of One Health through good preventative medicine and staying up to date on the latest advancements in medicine.

When not at work, I enjoy travelling, photography, gardening, scuba diving and surfing with my husband, and we share the house with 4 apathetic roommates (felines).

It is volunteering that sparked her interest in pursuing a career as an RVT and brought her to us!

Taylor has two dogs - Moose and Abu.

Caitlin, RVT
Caitlin graduated from the Red River College Animal Health Technology program in 2013 and joined our team in 2017. She most enjoys the laboratory portion of working at the clinic: hematology, urinalysis and cytology. Caitlin is also very passionate and talented when it comes to feline wellness and behaviour. She proves this by maintaining the peace in her home with six kitties - Sophie, Nova, Tank, Riley, Lucas and Mochi. Her Lab/Shepherd mix, Tobi, sure has a lot of rules to follow.

Amanda, RVT

Amanda joined our team as a Registered Veterinary Technologist in February 2021. Her career in the veterinary field began in 1998 where she worked as a veterinary assistant prior to graduating from the Animal Health Technologist program at Red River College in 2002. Amanda established her technical skills working at a 24 hour emergency hospital in Toronto, Ontario, for many years. In 2012, she moved back home to Winnipeg to raise her two children. She loves being a part of a caring health care team where she can help educate clients, snuggle those who need snuggling and support in the peaceful farewells.

Outside of work, Amanda loves to garden and spend time at her cottage. She has several gardening beds at home as well as a rental plot at her cottage where she can grow even more! Amanda has two cats – Mongo and Mumford, an English Cream Golden Retriever – Goose and a Goldfish – Volcano.

Jackie, RVT

Jackie started at Charleswood Veterinary Clinic in March of 2021. When she was younger, she worked in various pet stores and went to school to become a Vet Assistant. During her schooling, her teacher told her that she would make an excellent Vet Tech so she went back to school again and graduated as an RVT in 2017 from Red River College. Jackie loves helping her patients feel as comfortable as possible when they are in the clinic. This lead her to become certified in Fear Free handling. As an RVT, Jackie has many jobs, but she has a special interest in dental care. She has seen old dogs feel like puppies again after having their teeth cleaned and any infected/injured teeth extracted. It makes her feel good to be part of the process and hear that her patient feels so much better afterwards.

Outside of work, Jackie has been busy writing her first children's book called Penny's Rumour (as Penelope Prince), which was recently published. She also loves to read and bake!
Jackie has two Pomeranians - Penny and Prince, a cat named Snickers, and a Crested Gecko named Lu.

You can expect to see Wendy bright and early in the morning as she is typically our opening gal. Wendy's tremendous compassion and enormous heart has us all truly believing there is a spot in her heart for everyone that walks through the front door.

Andrea joined our team as a Veterinary Receptionist in May of 2019. Upon starting at the Charleswood Veterinary Clinic, Andrea was no stranger to many of our four-legging patients. Andrea has a hilariously jolly yellow Labrador named Tucker and four kitties – Max, Dow, Olaf and Gumby. All of which are foster fails. Outside of work, Andrea is an extremely talented at crocheting and gardening. Our favourite creation she has made so far is a tiny crocheted sofa that her cats all enjoy.

She helps to work with each patient to ensure each experience is a positive one. Nikki has further developed these skills through Fear Free Handling certification. Nikki is also very passionate about senior pet care (and senior pups!). This led her to adopt her 15 year old dog named Phillip where he lived out his golden years before crossing the Rainbow Bridge.

In Nikki's spare time, she picks up shifts at one of the local emergency veterinary hospitals for extra experience.
