Dr. Heather Bassey
Veterinarian I grew up in the Charleswood area, and since a very young age had the goal of becoming a Veterinarian. I left Winnipeg to attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. I did not last long living without pets while at school as I quickly acquired two cats - a Maine Coon named Arthur and a Domestic Medium Haired cat named Simon. I returned to Winnipeg to begin practicing after graduating in 2017. I have a particular interest in Fear Free medicine and believe in making veterinary visits as low stress as possible through gentle handling and positive reinforcement. I joined the Charleswood Veterinary Clinic team in April 2018. It has been such a pleasure to be back in my community and to be working alongside such supportive and caring staff.
Heather currently has a Siberian cat named Henry and a DMH named Simon. |

Elise's love for animals has taken her many places, including Thailand where she volunteered with the Wildlife Friends Foundation. Amy, RVT, CCBW
Amy joined the Charleswood Veterinary Clinic team in 2012 as a Registered Veterinary Technologist. Upon graduation, Amy worked in a small and large animal practice just outside of Winnipeg and acquired a wealth of experience. Amy also worked as Animal Protection Officer for the province of Manitoba in 2006 but has since handed in her badge and has taken a step back as an APO. We truly admire Amy's dedication to the animal field. Her latest accomplishment was in 2015 when she became a Certified Canine Bodyworker. She now offers canine massage therapy at the Charleswood Vet. Amy is kept busy at home with 3 little girls, and a cute Cocker Spaniel/Poodle Mix named Wally. |
Taylor, RVT
Taylor joined our team in late 2017 after graduating with honours from the Registered Veterinary Technology program at Alberta's Lakeland College in June of 2017. Shortly after graduating, she completed the RVT national exam that allowed her work in any province in Canada. Before becoming a technician, she volunteered at her hometown SPCA for many years and acquired a summer student position there. It is volunteering that sparked her interest in pursuing a career as an RVT and brought her to us! Taylor has two dogs - Moose and Abu. |

Reception & Veterinary Assistant Team
Wendy
Wendy is a Charleswood Veterinary Clinic fixture! She began at our clinic in September 2001 after working in various medical-related assistant positions in both human and animal settings. You can expect to see Wendy bright and early in the morning as she is typically our opening gal. Wendy's tremendous compassion and enormous heart has us all truly believing there is a spot in her heart for everyone that walks through the front door. The Charleswood Vet has populated Wendy's home with many little critters over the years which include her English Cocker Spaniel - Ryder and two kitties - Licorice and Emmy. |
Andrea
Andrea joined our team as a Veterinary Receptionist in May of 2019. Upon starting at the Charleswood Veterinary Clinic, Andrea was no stranger to many of our four-legging patients. After dedicating over 5 years at a local animal rescue, it brings her true joy to see many of the familiar faces she helped, now enjoying their lives in their forever homes. Andrea has a hilariously jolly yellow Labrador named Tucker and four kitties – Max, Dow, Olaf and Gumby. All of which are foster fails. Outside of work, Andrea is an extremely talented at crocheting and gardening. Our favourite creation she has made so far is a tiny crocheted sofa that her cats all enjoy. |
Dayna
Dayna joined our team as a Veterinary Receptionist in August of 2019. She completed the Robertson College Veterinary Office Assistant program in 2017 and has acquired an array of animal-related experience while working at a number of pet services we have in Winnipeg. Dayna’s passion for customer service has her truly enjoying being at the front desk where she can help educate clients, greet families and help make their pets feel at ease in the exam rooms. Dayna has two very busy little kitties named Teddy Jr. and Shrimp. She loves to buy them new little toys and activities to help enrich their happy house-cat lives. |
