Pets are a part of the family and we all want to do what is best for them. We understand that steps involved in providing the care needed for your pets to maintain good health may be strenuous on the pocketbook. We never want the cost of a treatment to dictate the care you give your pet.

Tips to consider while looking for a pet insurance company...

- What are their monthly premiums and what can I afford?
- What are their deductibles and how do they work?
- What veterinary expenses do they cover? Do you they cover routine check-up appointments? Dental procedures? Preventative medication? Injury? Illness?
- What percentage of veterinary bills are covered?
- Are there limits to how much they will cover?

Trupanion Pet Insurance

Trupanion was founded in Canada in 2000 and offer what some people say is reinvented pet insurance. They differ from other companies in a number of ways but one aspect that stood out to us is how they navigate their deductibles. Once deductibles are met for eligible issues, coverage is provided for the life of your pet, instead of restarting each year.

Fetch  Insurance

According to a Consumer's Advocate survey in November 2020, Fetch was deemed the most comprehensive pet insurance company. Covering more routine services that are often exempt by other companies.

Pets Plus Us Pet Insurance

​Pet insurance for Costco members that offer more than just veterinary expense coverage. Resources available include: helplines for pet poison control, compassionate assistance, and a 24/7 contact to a veterinary professional if your veterinarian is closed.

Petsecure Pet Insurance

One of Canada's leading pet insurance companies with licensed insurance advisors, bilingual representatives, and claim teams staffed by animal health technologists who have hands-on experience in veterinary clinics.

Peppermint Pet Insurance

​A branch off Petsecure that offers pet insurance policies with monthly premiums that are a little easier on the budget. 

Petcard: Veterinary Financing 

Petcard is an available option for covering emergency vet bills. This product is provided by iFinance Canada and is a financing arrangement, not a credit card, that allows you to request a financial amount and determine scheduled monthly repayment periods that can span from 6 months to 5 years.
